Question on Rena Smartfilter 55

Hello,

I am a newbie (only 1+ year of owning an aquarium). I'm getting ready to buy a new tank and wondered if anyone knows about the Rena Smartfilter 55? I'm getting a 56 gal tall square tank for my shubies who have outgrown their 29 gal. I heard the Rena canister type filters are really good, but the size I would need is just too expensive for me right now. Would the smartfilter 55 work for my 3 shubies and their waste?

The rena smartfilter is a great alternative to a rena canister. Mine kept a 90 gal koi tank clean untill my canisters came in, and they are very messy fish. Eventually spring for the canister but till then the smartfilter is your best bet
