Quick help - T12's or T8's

T is the diameter of the bulb in eigths of an inch. I am not sure what you are asking...
 
If the fixture is T8, you can't put a T12 in it, if that is what you are asking.
 
The lamp holders would have to be replaced as well... so basically, a new fixture :)
 
Added a bit more to your title and moved to the General Hardware/Equipment section.
 
If you are having to make a choice I would go with the T8's. I have a T12 fixture in the 240G tank and they are getting harder and harder to find. Also I was limited in the K ratings because they are T12. Even home lighting and commercial are going away from T12's to T8's. Just my 2 cents.
