Quick help - T12's or T8's

Could I use a t12 or a t8 what's the difference

T is the diameter of the bulb in eigths of an inch. I am not sure what you are asking...

Size primarily, but they're different wattages too.

If the fixture is T8, you can't put a T12 in it, if that is what you are asking.

You have to match the wattage of the ballast and bulb. You can replace the ballast and would solve the issue.

The lamp holders would have to be replaced as well... so basically, a new fixture

Forgot the reflectors/fixtures for t8's are smaller than t12's. Good call fort .

If you are having to make a choice I would go with the T8's. I have a T12 fixture in the 240G tank and they are getting harder and harder to find. Also I was limited in the K ratings because they are T12. Even home lighting and commercial are going away from T12's to T8's. Just my 2 cents.
