Splashing water trickle would be the big concern. I used to have a Fluval Edge in my bedroom and it was quiet, using a Aquaclear 20 (only size which can fit in an Edge.)
Run it on low side not the highest flow setting. I used a longer / tall plastic water bottle, for capacity and used filtered water and stowed it under the side to quickly and easily add water due to water loss from evaporation and not hear any trickle or splash. Would refill as needed when doing maintenance/
