Reef octopus in sump protein skimmer questions

I clean the collection Cup at the top of the skimmer every time I do a water change do I have to clean any of the other components of the protein skimmer and if so how often?

You should clean the 'neck' of any skimmer as often as possible(weekly).
My large skimmer gets such build up in the neck it really is like having a second collection cup!
