Where is the best place to get a water sample from when using a refractometer? Surface,Middle or Bottom? I just got mine today and the readings i get are off several points from the swing arm type. But i just took a sample from the surface. And i am not sure that is where i should get a sample from.

When I switched from using a swing arm or floating hydrometer to a refractometer... I also observed a significant difference. What read as 1.025 in the hydrometer, turned out to be almost 1.030 with the refractometer. I find that my readings are very similar, whether I sample from the top, middle, or bottom, although I did read somewhere that all testing should be done from the middle.
