Rena FilStar xP1 Canister Filter

I was looking at buying this canister filter for my 38 gallon tank. It says good for aquariums up to 45 gallons (250 gph) but I've learned to question what a manufacturer claims. Would this work or do I need to go bigger/better??

TIA for any thoughts.

It would probably be OK, but bigger is always better...personally, I would go XP2, just for the extra margin.

If you are really interested in them we have both an XP1 and an XP2 that we are no longer using (they were only used for about 6 months - have not set up that tank since we moved so they haven't been used since then) that I would be glad to sell....they are great little filters and were SO easy to maintain!!
