Well my LFS had a tank of theirs crack and drop 120 gallons of water on the floor. The fish are fine btw. I was wondering if you could replace the bottom? Also how think would the glass need to be?

you can... it would be pretty expensive.. and time consuming.. it would need to be flame tempered glass. and a lot.. lot.. lot of aquarium weld. lol

Why does it need to be tempered? Are their cheaper materials? Couldnt you use wood or similar? Could i just use a dam thick piece of regular? 1inch?

to 1.. take the weight of the water... 2 make it a little more shatter resistant.. incase of rocks/ornaments hitting it from an avalanche... and 3.. thats what every tank made uses.. lol

of course with the exception of your acrylic tanks.

if the tank is glass.. continue to use glass.. i know there is a reason people dont mix it.. maybe because of the bonding agent they use to bond the tank itself.. before they seal it with silicone.
