Rio Nano HOB Protein Skimmer?

I just bought one of the Rio's Nano HOB protein skimmer to be added on to my red sea max on top of the original one. I've heard good and bad reviews about this product. Does anyone here have one of these protein skimmers? How was it, does it work, is it good? Thanks.

BTW, the skimmer doesn't pump the water up too good, and it sometimes doesn't reach prime (water does not run thru the system), anyone experienced this problem, or anything I can do to fix it?
