I apologize if this is redundant. I had tried to reply to another thread and it was 5,000+ days old so I couldn’t.

I am new to “larger” aquariums and have never had to put thought into the substrate before now. (Larger means bigger than the 7gallon I have had). I have recently purchased a 37 gallon aquarium. It measures 30” L x 12.4” W x 22” H.

I wanted a sand bottom because I prefer what it looks like. The lady at the store said that would be fine. She sold me CaribSea Super Naturals substrate. It has a neutral pH. I am doing fresh water aquarium.

How deep should the sand be?

Also, the sand came with a Bio-Magnet Clarifier. What is that and do I use it?

Thanks for your help.

Anywhere from an inch - 3 inches or so in a non-planted tank, then anywhere from 2” - 4” in a planted tank.

Use the bio-clear stuff right away.
