Sand or gravel

I have an old tank established tank. I am adding live rock and expensive fish. Should I change from gravel to sand? Can i leave some gravel and
add sand on top or get rid of gravel?

Change all the gravel out for sand. If mixed, the sand will simply settle on the bottom and the coral will be on the top anyway.

Crushed coral is a notorius nitrate producer. "Expensive fish" will enjoy it better.

Yeah get either pool filter sand, or crushed coral. Both are good.
