Skimmer question.

I've tried being frugal and limestone-modded a skilter I had to try and use it on my 125gal reef tank with no success, so now I'm looking into buying a real skimmer.
The addition on the house is running over budget so the wife will kill me if I spend too much on "playthings" right now... especially since I just bought some frags last night and am almost done easing her into the idea of buying an RO/DI.

So in your guys/gals experience, what is a decent budget skimmer brand that will do the job for the next 6-9 months?

I love my excalibur. They are good skimmers IMO. Do you have a sump or is this a HOB. Also I`m moving this to proper forum. Hope all works well.

Thanks melosu,
I never venture outside of the salty forums at the top.

I've got a wet/dry sump and a fuge underneath, but for the right price I'll consider anything.
