I bought a Red Sea Fish Pharm ARE50010 12.5-Inch Berlin Air Lift Protein Skimmer for my $55 gallon tank. Cost $45. Not surprisingly, it doesn't work very well. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a budget HOB skimmer that works?
Alternatively I have a Red Sea Triple-Pass protein skimmer that I had on a tank from 10 years ago - but I don't remember it working terribly well and the replacement pump to get it working again would cost me $50-$65. It is also huge and rated for 250 gallons. It would, however, be an improvement over what I currently have in the tank.
