Skimmers

When you first put a skimmer in your tank...what's supposed to happen? We hooked ours up a couple of days ago and really, we don't even have any bubbles that go all the way up the tube.

Thanks

You have to adjust it to where the water level is high enough and the bubbles come up high enough. Should be instructions with your skimmer.

yes, what brand & model of skimmer...lots of them are similar, but in many cases they are each adjusted in a different way.

If you can adjust the air intake, make sure you have enough air going in, but not so much that you have bubbles leaving the skimmer. Then you adjust the collection cup height so that you're getting dry foam coming out the top.

Not all skimmers have air intake adjustment...not all have collection cup adjustment (most do, but for example a Prism skimmer doesn't).

Also keep in mind it might take a week for the skimmer to 'break in' and skim at a consistent level.
