Softened H2O vs. Hard H2O

When filling aquarium for the first time is it better to use soft water (Cullagan Water Softener) or try to tap into a valve upstream of the Softener and just use plain hard city water?

Depends on how soft soft is, how hard hard is, and what types of fish you are attempting to keep

Soft H2O is 1.0 grain on hardness. Hard H2O side is 5-6 grains od hardness. Fish would be tropical freshwater (mollies, guppies, neons, angles) w/ some plants.

Personally, I'd stay upstream of the water softener with those fish.
