Do you think a 125 gallon rated would be too much for my 45 gal tank?

Another thing a lot of people say is to cut the rating in half on the skimmer. So a 65g would be good for a 30 gal tank. 125 for a 60/75 gal and so on

I wouldn't say it's too big but it might only skim for a couple of days a week

It will most likely skim a lot of the water rather quickly. So it might take all of the organics in 2-3 days and have nothing to actually skim for a day or 2 till the tank makes more waste
