I have ceramic rings, 4 sponges, biozorb (that came with filter, and recently started using filter floss in final basket.

I have xp2 but I use two course foam pads, two fine foam pads, alot of ceramic rings, a whole lot of filter floss. My water is crystal clear.

I use the black sponges that came with the unit in the bottom, ceramic noodles in the middle, and loose filter floss in the top.
