I was just speaking to someone who has a Pleco, and also has a UV Blacklight (the decorative kind that makes things glow), and he hasn't used it since he moved his Pleco tank into his room as he believes that it would kill the beneficial bacteria in the tank... 
Now, from my understanding, there are a few different types of UV lights, the main ones I know of being the Sterilising type, the Sunbed type and the Blacklight type. So, what are the differences between these lights?
I know that Sunbed and Steriliser types can be harmful, but I've never really thought about the blacklight kind... :-|
