UV sterilizer question for helping

This unit is necessary for saltwater to add in my system?
Because, I have one build in my canister filter, I want to get off this filter for descreasing nitrite and nitrate.

How big is your tank? A UV sterilizer may not be necessary unlesss the system is on the larger side. How often do you do pwcs? This may help in the reduction you're looking for.

I had a UV for about ten yrs and even though I see their purpose when it broke I decided not to get another one. They are very useful as far as getting rid of parasites and algea spores but only those that travel thru the lighted chamber. Here is one of our articles on one.

my tank is 75 gal, I do PWC every week for 20 per

I would say it's probably not necessary unless, like Melosu said, you have a bunch of parasites or algae. They are effective in clearing up algae laden water
