Versa top for 40 gallon long?

I need to get a versa top for my 40 gallon long, there is a brace in the middle so I think I would need two 24" versa tops. But a lot of my friends did this and it was a little too big. What should I do? Could I just get one 48" instead of two?

There are several different manufacturers of tanks and glass tops. Measure the openings in your tank's rim, and check the sizes of the glass panels and backsplash strips. If necessary you can simply order the hinge and backsplash strips online (or from your lfs) and get some glass cut to the necessary sizes to make it fit properly.
