Vertex in-250 skimmer adjustment issues

I have a Vertex IN-250 slimmer that I can't seem to get dialed back enough to work. My Refugio's was running at 12-13", so I drained it down to 7-8" and it still is overflowing like crazy. My standpipe is completely wide open and I can't think of whatelse to do to dial it back enough, any suggestions

Anybody?? Building a stand to raise the skimmer up is put of the question as well
