So I have 55 gallon fw tank. With a 48" single tube light on a timer set for 7am to 10pm. Want to know what options do I have for night light or second light that I can turn on or off with having to bypass my timer for my main light?

Search moonlight led on eBay. You can get strips on there for really cheap. That's what I did. Just sort by cheapest first
