Weird problem with tank glass

It looks water stained somehow. Tried vinegar tried bleach tried CLR and nothing has helped. Any idea what this could be? I don't think it's calcium.... I know that there used to be a background taped to the back and the back is now accidentally the front- unsure what to do

Sounds like a nightmare. Could be stained permanently. My quarantine tank got stained when I used metheline blue to treat fish and I can't get that stain out either. I tried vinegar and just gave up. Was a nice looking tank too with rounded edges. But it's a hospital tank so who cares I guess.

Is it too much effort to turn the tank around and make the back the back again? Like it was before you noticed the stain. May be your only option?

You could call up a glass specialist and ask them? Like a company that makes glass. Or speak with a manufacturer of fish tanks. Like aqua one. Someone is bound to know.

The glass appears to be etched. Since neither vinegar or CLR made any difference, you are probably stuck with it. It might be possible to buff it out but that would require emptying the tank, in which case it would be easier to turn it around. Is it on the inside or outside of the tank?

Outside- etched by what? It's not scratched or anything it looks like a waterstain

Technically, 8.33 makes just the water 624.75 then add the tank at 140 lbs. Not an easy task to move at all, lol. I've been there myself.

Take a day off work and spend the day turning it around will be worth it eventually. Just don't empty it completely and leave everything in there so you can just rearrange. It may be doable. Need a strong person to help turn it. Well that's what id do anyway...

Have you tried running a razor blade across it? If they had a background on they could have used some type of adhesive. Try rubbing it with baby oil, Vaseline, olive oil, or vegetable oil. Most adhesives will come off with vaseline. All of those will be safe for tank inhabitants. You can buy headlight buffing kits at any auto store. It might take the stain off. Just do not get any in the tank. Also, do not buff it too much. Just a light going over. You could try baking soda on a rag too.

I dont think that would be it because of the high temp currently used to produce glass. Use a stove polish for glass top stoves or Bon-Ami with a damp sponge. It has been used on auto restorations for years to preserve the original glass.

i was about to say try that fine compound they use to restore plastic head lights
or even tooth paste

Might have to wet sand with very fine grit like 2000+ and get finer grit that way you don't have a ton of micro scratches had to do that with my glass lids
