Weirs

I have been reading some old threads and still can not figure out "Weirs"
What are they and where can I see what these look like?

This is a weir, AKA an overflow.

Oh okay thanks..... So why do they call the Overflow boxes Weirs don't they know that is confusing to us NEWBIES to the SW Hobby..??? Especially when you go to vendors websites to buy such items they are not listed as Weirs are at least I have not seen any labled this....

I have no idea. Maybe weirs have teeth while overflow boxes don't?
