you know i was thinking of switching to canister filters myself today and got to look around. 2 i saw that were constantly recommended was the sunsun 302b and the ehiem 2217. the ehiem 2217 more so. those 2 may be to overpowered for your 29g but it seems ehiem and sunsun filters are the common way to go. you might look into some smaller modules of those.

It seems Ehiem is one of the most recommended by some of the old pros. Fluval is up there too.

I would get an Ehiem if possible. I’ve had issues with leaking with Sunsun abs Fluval canisters (little biased here).
