Hello!

I’m starting up a 29 gallon tank, on a dresser in a bedroom, and wondering what filter you guys would suggest. There’s no room for a canister, so it has to be an HOB filter. I’d prefer it to be self priming, to prevent any water spilling behind the dresser when priming. Lastly, I’d like it to be fairly quiet, since it will be just a few feet from my ears as I sleep.

Thanks for your help!

I would worry more about that dresser holding the weight of a 29 gal tank . Check out this site.....https://www.thesprucepets.com/aquarium-sizes-and-weights-1380694 .
As far as filters go the I use the Fluval C series and am quite happy with them . Aqua Clears are good also .

I have a Fluval C4 my 29 gallon and it's fantastic. Keeps the water crystal clear and it's very quiet. Fluval and Aquaclear are made by the same company and use the same motor.

The Fluval gives far superior filtration compared to the aquaclear. See my post #2 here:

I add hand cut 50 micron pads to the factory media and the clarity of my water is stunning.
