Whisper Question

So I have a little Whisper 20 on my 10 gallon and wanted to know if I could to the following. I put filter floss behind the little media catridge but was wondering if I could stuff some in the filter inlet to act as a prefilter? I know You can use a sponge but I figure that this would work also.

Physically it would, yes. I would be concerned however with it severely slowing the water (and thus air) flow of the filter. Its not really needed, imho, and most use those sponge prefilters for fry protection anyways.

Well I wanted to add it since Whisper dont filter very good to begin with. I have a bubble stone in the tank to O2 in the tank isnt a concern. Also its a Betta/ Neon tetra tank so Im trying to cut the current a bit anyways for the betta.

Give it a try then! Just make sure the floss doesn't get packed so that water flow is cut off. That'd be my only concern.
