Due to limited space over "the corian tank", I decided to go with screw in CF lights...came across this 24w bulb, (also available in a 30w)....I can get 4 of these in the canopy comfortably giving me 96 to 120wpg...do the color and temp sound about right????

Replaces: 100 to 120w bulb
Dimensions: 5"l x 2 1/8"w
Wattage: 24 watts
CRI: 94+
Kelvin: 5900
Lumens: 1600
Life: 10,000 hours [?]
Not for use with dimmer switches

I would go for a higher Kelvin... 6500 or higher...
It really doesn't matter, except if you grow plants.. I think 6500+ looks better.

This was allot easier before we had all this technology...LOL

let's see if I got this right now, from the bulbs suggested...higher "K" is better than higher "CRI"....In theory I can use 4- 20w giving me 2 wpg (low/mod), or 4-27w giving me 2.7wpg (mod/high)....the mirrored surface of the canopy should cut down on refraction from the spiral bulbs, evening the light overall....

Will I have to use co2???...Will diy be sufficient???...remember, I'm cheap...so far this whole build has cost me 14.00

yes...always favored them...to many jumpers in the past...other specs...

40 gal - 20" deep
diy wet/dry/sump hybrid w/scrubbies and air injection (yet to be born)
layered soil substrate under sand
large driftwood centerpiece
stock list still pending
