thought I would share some photos of my new 75gal now that it is up and going. I plan on more plants and I have one more piece of drift wood that needs to go in. As soon as I can get some there will be some flame moss on the rock cave in the middle and on the drift wood that is in there with some java moss on the rock cave on the side. I am undecided on what else to plant but would like some plants with some color to them.

Fish are

guppies not for sure how many.
5 albino cory cats
1 golden Chinese cat fish
6 ghost shrimp
2 silver mollies male and female
1 dwarf frog

plan on adding a school of clown loaches and a few more frogs
Please let me know what you think. The water is a bit cloudy do to me moving some things around earlier and putting in the drift wood. It should clear up shortly

Thanks for looking
Mike

thank you glad to know some one like's it.

No I did not soak it first. I boiled it and the other piece for 7 or 8 hr's. Kept doing it tell the water stayed clear. Worked great to get the tennins out but did not help with wanting to float. Thats why I haven't put the other piece in yet. I need to find a rock I like to hold it down.

Just watch out regarding some of those decorative items you have in their like the marbles rocks with colour, not sure what they are. Depending on the water in your area, over time, the colour could break down and leech into your properly cycled tank water.

Thanks everyone. The colored stones are polished rocks my wife got in Alaska. Tanks for the tip I wil watch for anysinges of color leaching. I dont know if the bambo will last or not. Some say yes others say no. One way to know for sure. I have to more bulbs that should start coming up any day. Hope to pick up some plants with a bit of color over the next couple of weeks. No one has any moss local to me so that means I am going to have to get it on line.

Thanks again every one I will have to see if I can get some better Photos.

Made a trip to the lfs which is 60 miles away so not very local. I picked up 2 new tank mates. A male and female Blue batta. I also picked up some grass and some and some ferns. Still wanting on the on the 2 Lilly bulbs to sprout. When they come in it should fill out the right side of the tank nicely. I wasnt abel to get a photo of the femal batta but the male came out to show off. I was concerned they would not get along with each other or some of the other fish but they seam happy and very content. They both like to hang out around the lilly that is planted under the drift wood. Speaking of drift wood. I added the other piece that I had this weekend.

Was just glancing at your pics again.

Have you thought about a background for your tank?
If I had your setup< I would think about a 'planted' background. Something with green.

I hope to have a pretty solid back ground of real plants some day. It will just take time growing. I am still spending a lot of time looks at plants trying to decide just what I want. It is kinda hard to see in the photos But the back and sides are painted black with blue swarls trough out. Basically I put a light coat of blue on real thin then painted black over the top of it. Both of these where brushed and I did not let the blue completely dry before I put the first coat of black on. turned out better then I thought. If you look real close in the 2,3,4 photo of the last post you can see what I am talking about. It looks better in person.

well the bambo is a no go. I am getting black spots on the leaves and the tips are routing. I am going to pull it out of the tank and plant it else where.

Mike

Hey thats cool I never knew that bamboo could be totally submerged. I have one in my kitchen.... I might need to get a tank for it... Haha yea right I wouldnt wake up mysteriously the next morning. Nice!

I was taking a photo of the ADF chilling on some Dwarf Sag and my female Batta popped into the photo almost like she was posing.

Hey, those were my plants!

Glad you got them and they still look healthy. Expect a little die off, especially with the red tiger lotus. They went through quite a bit of shock.

Im happy I could help out, and I think the tank is looking great. Did you get the java moss that was in there?

-Jake

thanks every one. Boy you guys are quick tonight. Yea the first photo is not so great. I find it really hard to get a good photo of the hole tank. The cheap camera I have just dont work great for that shot. This is my first tank with black sand and I am really liking it. It really brings out the color in the fish and plants. I have a matching male Betta perfect pair if some one was going to bread them. If the bread I will be happy but I dont think I will try and make them.

Thanks again
Mike

Yeap those where yours. You have made me a very happy man. If you look at the rock in the center of the tank that both of the drift wood pieces are resting on you will see the moss. Its kinda hard to see but it is there. I figure there will be a bit of die off kinda expected. I dosed with liquid fertilizer and and put some root tabs down. Hopefully that will help.
