Hey here is my guppy tank,
I have 1 male the other two died for some reason :( and 5 females.
I have about 56 guppy fry.

I set up a breeder box originally but realized they were way to small for more fry!!! So I put the new borns in the breeder boxes that I bought at the fish store and as they get older I transfer them to the "DIY" milk carton boxes lol.

I know it's kind of ghetto, but hey it works lol.
I have the slightly larger fry in the one, and the smaller ones in another.
The larger ones are from 1-2 months old and they don't fit in the mouths of the adult guppies, but for some reason if I put them in they get nipped at and die, so I'm waiting until they're at least a bit bigger before trying to add them in.
If you can see in the larger box, the yellow fry...I'm expecting them to have red tails just like their mom. There are a couple of bigger dark ones, I see their fins are blue and their tails are yellow or visa versa which will be exciting to see as they get older :)

Sorry for the super crappy pictures, my camera can't capture movement in the least haha. Let me know what you think of my DIY haha

P.S. I usually have bits of anacharis in the breeder cartons, they're not in there right now because I'm trimming the plants down and also I was cleaning out the cartons earlier.

Here's an update,
I just trimmed down the anacharis,
Before there was so much of it that the fry could barely move,
I just cut off the new buds that were forming and threw them back in.

Enjoy :)

Nice set up good job..

Are you going to sell your fry or keep in other tanks?

Hey,

I'm definitely thinking of keeping a handful of the guppies (the ones with the unique markings on the tails) and hopefully I can find somebody who wants to buy the guppies.

I think it might be hard though because there are such excess of guppies in the stores and the big chain stores like petsmart and petco say it's against their policy to take and buy fish....so yeah haha:ermm:

Thanks for posting this! Did you poke holes in the sides of the milk carton also, or just the bottom? I'm wondering how the flow through the carton is.

I was looking for a quick and cheap DIY box like this for my African Dwarf frog tadpole. He's in a little unheated 1.5 gal tank right now and developing slowly because of the cooler water. I'd rather add him to my heated 20 gal if I can safely separate him from the other fish. Great idea!
