Internal filter vs external filter

Hey I'm thinking of getting a second filter for my tank but I didn't knw what to choose. Either and internal or external. I was wondering which would be better for discus and easier to clean. Could u leave a recommendation and a type of filter which is great and worked for u. Oh and I would like the filter to pump atleast 300 us gals a hr. Thanks guys

For a discus tank you need to go with a low flow filter. Have you thought about sponge filters? I've been doing a lot of reading, because I plan on having a discus tank eventually. I like this article...

AngelfishUSA also sells the sponge filters they use.

The beauty of external filters is that they are easier to clean, and leave more room in the tank.
