This is my 20 gallon set up, just thought I would post some pictures up and get commentary and ideas from people who actually know what they are doing. :p I have a lot of living things in there. On the land side we've got two turtles, a Firebelly Toad, a Hermit Crab, a normal crab, plenty of moss and a live plant. In the water I have about 11 fish, (you can see most of them in the pictures) a crayfish, an albino african frog, and a dino bichir. I had a firebelly newt at one point but he vanished, I think hes dug himself into the gravel. I also have a bunch of baby snails all over the tank and in the gravel, I don't mind them though and I hope they grow. Other than that I was hoping maybe I could get some advice on water changes for the tank, not really sure how I would approach this set up for that.

First off, let me start by welcoming you to AA, hopefully you take the opportunity to both share and learn while you are here and your skills as a fishkeeper will grow over time.

Before everyone starts jumping in, how about some more information about your system. First off, while the tank is 20 gallons, you obviously do not have 20 gals of water there, so what is the total volume of water in your tank? What are you using for filtration at this point? How long has the tank been set-up and how long has each of the inhabitants been in it? What type of turtles do you have and what is their expected maximum size. What type of crayfish do you have? I hope that you are aware of some of the potential incapatibility issues that you have in that aquarium, but if not I'm relatively certain you will be hearing about some of them soon.

Welcome to AA! :)

The answers to Wy Renegade's questions will help, but I will cut to the chase. The amount and types of animals you are currently keeping are simply not compatible. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is with your interests in mind that I am.

Your set up appears to be way overstocked, both the land and water side. i dont know much about turtles and frogs or crabs but i dont see how they can all live together in such a small space. i am quite concerned with the water side. 1. it looks like you have too many fish. 2. their is not enough water. 3. is their a filter? 4. no airstone or water movement = not enough oxygen. 5. is their a heater?

Agreed with all of the above. There must only be about 5 gallons of water in there. But on the bright side your turtles are very pretty. All those fish will need a bigger tank very soon.
