At this point, I'm just sticking with the tanks I have. 150, 125, 40b, 40b, 20l, 20l, 10, 10. I may get more 20l's and/or 10's at some point, but with everything else going on, I just don't have the time. I'm going to have to make some stands, and most likely do some 2 level shelving to keep from having to put tanks in the middle. The room is big, but all the doors make it a pain to fit tanks in.

8 tanks?! Wowza! MTS much?! lol That is going to be an awesome room! Can't wait to see the final result! WTG, Jonathan! Hope you're liking your new house and having a blast setting up your "Fish Cave"! :D

Thanks guys... McLumpy, I just realized I forgot a tank... there's a 29g too

I think the following tanks are going to be planted:
150
40b
40b
29
10

The following tanks are going to be barebottom with sponge filters:
20l
20l
10

And the 125 is not going to be planted, as it will house the fish that destroyed my plants.

Rookie, if you have any HOBs with cylindrical intake tubes that you want to convert to sponge filters, here is a link. They call them sponge pre filters. There are 3 different models. Maybe that could save you a buck. I have a thread about them in the hardware section with pics of 2 of them in my 55 gallon. So far they are the ticket.

Thanks for the link... I think I'm just going to get some sponge filters though, they're only $5 each at angelfishusa.com

That's a great price too.

Wow Jonathan!

I can remember back in the day when the african tank was your pride and joy and you didn't want the hassle of a planted tank.

Can't wait to see your fish cave all finished.

And yes, leave room for a weight bench or cot. We have a full family room in our basement with all the large tanks. Working on getting me an exercise bike so I can ride and watch the tanks.

I remember this too!!!! I also remember that he was always saying that he didn't have room for more hahahaha!

Now look at you. Moving into a bigger house with a room just for fish (well we assume :p). You have a nice big project ahead. I envy you.

Oh, and your little one is getting so big!

And... down comes the 125:

I'm pretty sure this big ole java fern came from Kai close to 2 years ago:

I'm in the process of filling my 150 up right now. I've got the dirt and plants from this tank, and hopefully will have the rainbows in there soon. I'll not have any more picture updates until late tonight, since there's no internet at the new house yet, and my parents are coming down to cook out over there. I'll have pics of the whole fishroom though, with all but one 40b, 20l, and my 125 in there.

So, here are some pictures from today.

The 40 breeder that's housing the barbs and nippy tetras from my 125 until I can get my 125 set back up:

The 20 long that's housing my tetras and apisto from the 40 breeder, until I can get my other 40 breeder up:

My male apisto (such a beautiful fish):

The progress on the 150 (with the 'sun' that was above the 125 at the old place... kind of a signature I guess):

And some shots of the room... please excuse the mess (we're moving, what can I say?):

So, I'm down to 4 tanks to set up. The 125 is empty at my old house right now. I've pulled something in my back and was barely able to walk today, much less pack a 125 around. That'll come soon though. My 10g fry tank will probably be moved over tomorrow. Then, I have to build a stand for my 40 breeder and 20 long. I'm not sure yet whether i'm going to build one to hold the 40 and the 20, or build one for the 40 and one for the 20 with some 10's above it. I guess we'll see what happens. Anyways, it's coming along nicely if I do say so myself.

I am just glad to see you got that light source back hangin' on the wall already ;)

Lookin' good buddy.

Looking good!

Look also like ALOT of work...all fun though.

As for your back, take it easy mister. Heating pads, ice packs, hot baths, ice packs, heat pads...advil and rest. :)

Really enjoying watching this room come alive. Sure it will turn out great, if you get a chance shoot short videos going 360 degrees around as you progress, then you can edit them together and see the whole evolution. Just a thought ;)
