Your only as old as you feel. Haha do u ever ship frags?

I intend to do so when I finally retire and do this full time. I have some trouble getting rid of corals, maybe I am a coral horder. I do sell off soft corals and Zoas to my LFS, but haven't shipped anything yet.

Gotcha. I hope someday i can have a tank like that... wish u were close to me so i could see that beast of a tank in person!

New LED group buy fixture for our office tank. It is capable of Apex and Reefkeeper control. Every channel has a dimmer. This is a Cree style full spectrum light. 120 watts, just under $400.

Nice! Can't wait to see a pic of the tank with it installed.

hey greg, i am also interested in that new light lol. How long is it? I really, really like that is controller friendly, none that I can find are or they are beyond my budget. :)

I'll take pictures of it tomorrow with the tank. My son builds them from parts he gets on LED builders bulk buy from one of his forums. They are heavy duty but you need to assemble them. I guess it's about 18" long, but you can buy the extruded aluminum rail that everything bolts to in different lengths. You pick the LEDs and drivers that all go together. As many channels as you want. Apex/RKE ready. And individual dimmer knobs. I REALLY like the remote mounted power supply, so what hangs over the tank is lower DC voltages. The tank is a Nuvo 38 with all the bells and whistles. Actually, it's pretty neat and perfect for a small front office. Going to be a critter tank, corals and shrimp. Maybe a few small fish. Rimless, so he went with 60 degree optics so the light hangs pretty high and out of the way. I think he said he had $400 in the light. Not the cheapest but it is heavy duty, easy to work on and can do all the tricks. Made in America, cause you made it, assembled it at least. ;-) Hanging the light so high is something that looks pretty cool with a rimless tank. Makes it look dramatic. Tank even has a nice little skimmer and easy to clean media racks. Using really good aragonite (Coral something) and quarried rock, we're seeding it from his and my reef. Watch, wait and stock really slowly. He got a MP10 and controller, a new unbreakable solid state heater. Even have a solid state chiller I am going to check out this summer when the office warms up. The underwater chaeto light for the chaeto chamber is really cool. It's fun watching him put it together. I thought he had bought the nice veneered wooden stand, but found out he had built it over the weekend.

4 channels with separate dimmers and 0-10VDC Apex interface connections. First channel is white, 2nd is 450-455nm royal blue, 3rd channel 430nm hyper violet, 4th is ocean coral white (red, cyan, cool blue LEDs). These are all bin #2 Cree LEDs. Light rail this mounts to comes from 6" to 72" in length. You can build this light as big as you want but must have basic soldering skills.

I am going to eventually change out my Chinese panels with these this winter. I love the control they give me with customizing it to my exact needs.

Just added aragonite and water. It'll take a few hours to settle out.

can you say "tax writeoff" LOL
I know better than that. ;-) Have to see what my accountant says. Much of this equipment my son got for building and maintaining a coral growers web site. He modified the Nuvo design by adding a media and lighted chaeto rack and a cool little protein skimmer.

I'm pretty impressed so far, very clean design, simple, easy maintain, star fire glass, bent corners, not much to not like in a small tank. My first rimless, I think it looks cool.

The drivers on this light are Apex compatible, and probably RKE comparable, but the driver specs don't say that, so Apex is probably the safest choice for a controller.

Here are pictures of my sons starfire tank.

By the way, this install was my first MP10 power head. I get it, it's very cool. Wish I could afford the big ones for my reef.
