Yeah I just hate to see fish with their fins all tore up. My ciclids are always nipping each others fins. Wanted the reef to be as peaceful as possible. It may be my purple firefish. Not sure yet so I will observe and pack someone's bags today if possible.

Is there any reef safe product that will aid in fin damage repair or protect them from infection? In my ciclid tank I use stress coat.

Vitamin C and garlic additives are popular. I always liked VitaChem added to frozen food to keep fish in their top condition. The vitamin C is more for invertebrate health but it also acts like carbon dosing and can cause bacteria blooms (feeds bacteria). I'd recommend VitaChem or a garlic based food additive.

It's official, I have a Sally Lightfoot crab in my tank. Tanks been up and running for over 3 months now and I just saw him for the first time today. Must have hitch hiked in on my original live rock. That would make 1 Sally Lightfoot crab, 1 mantis shrimp, 8 brittle stars as hitch hikers. Still trying to trap the mantis shrimp. He's crafty!!! YW goby is all healed up.

I had a Sally Lightfoot in each of my 30s. They're creepy looking but kinda neat in a way. Mine never bothered anything but some people say they can possibly turn nasty. I had to pay for mine. lol

I've read that they will clean up bubble algae. Also when they get mature to watch the smaller fish because they will go after them. My YW goby may be at risk in the future. Kinda cool though, free is me.

Great point. That was why I had added Sally's. There was some bubble algae on the rock and they obliterated it. These guys really do get bold and a bit fearsome once they're fully grown.

I've added a few corals since I posted last. Kenya tree, single polyp of Orange Dendrophyllia that hasn't opened in 4 days since I brought it home, just below the leather coral. And a Ricordea mushroom.

They are motoring around cleaning up algae. That fighting conch is pretty cool. Pictures soon, working on my coral frag now.

It is actually nocturnal, it opens its heads like a Duncan and prefers low light. Feeds on zooplankton and meaty foods.
