Decided to turn a closet into a 90 gallon reef. It's been up a couple of weeks. Thought I would share with everyone. Thanks for looking! Kole Tang and two chromis at the moment. It also has a Hammer Coral, Leather Toadstool, Frog Spawn, and a Kenya Tree. I had no cycle as all the live Rock and half the sand came from an established 125 in my home.ImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1399605383.297442.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1399605415.443801.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1399605426.587566.jpgImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1399605450.040035.jpg

Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

That's way better than a closet! Looks great.

90 gallons and reef kinda limits the fish possibilities. Any ideas what else you are gonna add? I'd consider a hawk of some kind and a Mystery Wrasse.

My wife has looked and likes a few reef safe wrasses. I thought about getting a mid to high level schooling fish. Just want more than schooling Chromis.

The build was easy. A four feet door opening on the closet made for an easy fit. I was initially thinking a 125 (4 foot) tank but the 24 in depth killed that. The 90 was as large as I could go.

Also, the lights are full spectrum 165 watt leds (two) ordered off of eBay. I also have two 24 in Current Orbit Marines mainly for the cool effects! Lol

The best thing about this tank...ease of maintenance. I placed a 700 gph pump inside the display which provides flow continually. I have a valve on top of the setup that when turned diverts the water in the display outside. Then I have a pump on a remote control electrical outlet that pumps water back in. Tried it the other day for the first time. Ten minute water change and most of that was spent waiting on the refill of the tank. The greatest thing, NO BUCKETS! I designed it purposely for a slow refill for the sake of the inhabitants. I will post some pics tomorrow if interested.

That's really a spectacular setup!! I'm setting a small scale water change trough.. Not nearly as sophisticated as yours, no more buckets nonetheless;)

Hope you all like it. If you can see anywhere I can improve it I'll be glad to hear it.

I would live to see it. One of the best parts of this hobby for me is seeing the designs of others.

I just bought the 20 gal brute can at Home Depot!!! $20 for no more buckets... Deal!!!! My 250 gph submersible pump should be here mon.. I'm hoping it will pull it's wieght, if it's hands free I don't mind a 20 min fill up.. My biggest tank is 29 gal.. I will float a heater through a piece of foam board in the barrel and run an airstone.. The pump will be plugged into a foot pedal switch for true hands free maintanence.. It's ghetto at best, I'm only into the whole deal for $50... It should work just fine though. I'll fill up the barrel from my sink with a 15' garden hose I just got too.. I have the option of siphoning right out my window but I may use the garden hose and go back into the sink like a python setup.. Ultimately when I get my house I'll have a setup just like yours :D
