with cyano, dyno's and nasty algae?

after re-arranging my filter scheme and adding chaeto to the fuge, I am almost ready to declare success.

What was a nasty sea of brown, snotty filaments, green hairiness and bubbling green film a couple months ago has transformed into this;

and let's not underestimate the power of a refugium;

before , after cleaning and when display was a tragedy;

today, fuge is a tragedy and display is clean, just as it should be;

it's pretty much choked with chaeto and caulerpa......perfect.(y)

and my mandarin has continued to eat whatever food is introduced as well as a nice diet of pods. He has managed to gain a good bit of weight, when I got him he had that pinched, malnourished back/body, now he is getting nice and plump :D;

Still get a small amount of green algae daily, but overnight it gets handled by the little critters and each morning the tank is fresh looking again, nitrate and phosphate are undetectable, so everybody's happy.....:dance:

Thanks.
It took about two weeks of nothing but actinic lighting, meticulous cleaning with a toothbrush, cut back on feeding and re-arranged the way water is processed through my set-up.
But after all that, it seems to finally be manageable.
As always it is still a work in progress and I lost a lot of corals, so kinda iffy about laying out a bunch more $$$ to replace stuff, but all the fish and critters are doing great.

That is good to hear. I hear you, I've reset several times only to throw money at things and it happen again. Pretty much cruise control until an eventual upgrade.

Ya know, if it isn't one thing it's another!!!!!!

So I'm checking out my tank and notice the midas blennie isn't right up front begging for food. He isn't in his barnacle home???........

so I take off the canopy and sure enough, there he is, now pretty much leather. :(
I am completely perplexed as to how he got out. The tank covers were in place and no opening big enough for him to get through, especially if he jumped!

The only thing I can even remotely think is he jumped up when I fed them last evening and I didn't notice him.

DOH!!!!
that is two of them now that have jumped!! :banghead:

he was easily one of my favorites......:(
