You may want to think about returning the diamond goby. The diamond goby is a sand sifting fish. It sifts through the sand eating tiny crustaceans and algae. It also like to burrow in the sand and take refuge in its burrows. It will not be able to do any of this with the substrate you've selected, and unless its eating the prepared foods you're feeding the rest of your fish it won't survive long.

I was going to get the dsame one the other day! But I was told my tank wasn't established enough at the LFS. She said they get all their food from the sand bed and it would be rare to be able to supplement that diet with anything.

Cute fish though!

I had a similar fish in the dragon goby, also a sand sifter. And while he sifted for a while he eventually ran out of food in the sand and started taking interest in the brine shrimp I feed. I returned him more because he sifted LS on my corals and LR. Annoying lil creature lol

Thanks for the replies guys! The Diamond Goby is doing great! I mashed him Einstein. This guy is so smart. He has made several burrows in the tank and even filled in some burrows to start new ones. He is no longer frightened by the other fish. He also gets right in the middle all the fish during feeding time. He'll go after the food and get his fill.
I was worried that he wouldn't be able to sift my substrate but my LFS guy said that he will eat the food that I feed my other fish. He does plus he takes my substrate and outs it in his mouth and sucks on it then situs spits it out.
Her is really a terrific fish!

I have two if them.... See pic...

They do move sand around which is good but that can be annoying cause they move all the sand from under my LR making me shaky as they may become unstable ;( so I am constantly moving sand back

Thanks! Your two guys look awesome! Great looking tank btw!
The branchy rock/coral thing I picked up from my LFS. I'll find out the company that makes it if you would like? But it is made up of some sort of plastic compound.
Do you know how fast the Diamond Goby grows? I haven't seen anything on this anywhere.

Thanks.. Yeah please find out. I don't know their growth rate.. But they've been together for about three years n have grown about 1.5 inch ..
They are almost 4 "
