Aquarium Advice Regular
I've already posted some pictures in the "Getting Started" gallery, but things have progressed along well enough that I can start sharing pictures in a gallery format.
We acquired the tank at the end of April, added the live rock once the salt levels were good, and I discovered that the tank had cycled very quickly, allowing us to add in the clean-up crew earlier than expected. We had a brief diatom bloom and some long hair algae, but as of now things are going very well, and our "slow" acquisition of a clean-up crew has gone smoothly. We even had a couple of successful moults amongst our various hermit crabs including the Halloween Hermit Crab.
We have also eliminated a single small aiptasia, but discovered that we also have three rock-flower anemones that we started feeding.
So far our clean-up crew looks like this:
15 Red-tipped Hermit Crabs
1 Halloween Hermit Crabs
7 Trochus Snails
5 Zebra Turbo Snails
2 Emerald Crabs
1 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Pacific Cleaner Shrimp
And now some pictures:
The tank as a whole, showing Aquascaping:
A close-up of the center area showing one of the hermits and 2 of the anemones.
There's an emerald crab on the left hand side of this picture:
Cleaner Shrimp:
Halloween Hermit Crab and 2 big zebra Turbos.
Another emerald crab shot:
A picture showing all three of the anemones. Two have moved to the above location since this picture was taken.
Anyway, more pictures will come... we may be adding corals soon... but won't be adding any conventional fish until after my daughter's last day of school towards the end of June.
