There's always room for a goby! lol

Anyways, I lied, I have an update. The pump started becoming very noisy the last few days. I figured since I cycled without a filter sock that the impeller was just clogged up a bit. I took out the pump and cleaned it and put it back together, snapping together and seating things properly. Still noisy. Held just the pump in the water without it touching the bottom and it is still very noisy without vibrating against anything.

I went with a via aqua pump because I have the 609gph version on my 55 and it is pretty quiet. This one is 230 gph and it is not quiet at all anymore.. don't have a clue what happened.

So today I ordered a mag-drive surpreme 1.9. It will do 190gph and 150gph at 3 feet of head loss. More than I'll need.

It can't get here soon enough.

Darn it, I jumped the gun. I looked online for fixes and apparently there is a safety feature on the pump that allows the impeller to separate and turn from the shaft in case it gets clogged. I read where this guy glued it so it didn't separate. I silicone'd it and now it is near silent, only hearing the hum. Now what to do with my spare mag-drive supreme 1.9?

Get another phosban reactor or BRS reactor and run bio pellets or Chemi pure elite

Ah, well now I need the pump. I guess the silicone didn't stick or something. I don't want to mess with it again. Just going to put the new pump in when it gets here today.

from my experience, and a few of my friends, you will get spots of coralline, then a burst of green algae that isnt removable, and then the coralline starts again. the green is kinda pretty, especially if your rock is stark white. it makes it look "live".

Yeah, this is the neon green variety that covers the rock in my 55 probably. Very cool to see it start so fast though.

Having a crazy microbubble problem after water change today. Parameters are good, amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5. No water fall in the sump to the return chamber. I think since I'm still using the modded pump that it may actually be creating the bubbles with the impeller or something.

So odd. I can't think of anything that would cause it.

i have heard higher salinity can cause it. as long as the pump isnt in contact with air, it wont have any air bubbles. it has to be something else. do you have a skimmer?

It took my shrimp a couple weeks to come out a little. He would just poke his head out but now 2 months later he's all and wondering about in the tank. He just needs time

I don't feel the good luck, lol. When I bought a cleaner shrimp for my 55 gallon a few months ago, he did the same thing. I have never seen him again. I think he got eaten by an anemone.

So that's my bad luck story but this one is probably fine.

Well micro bubble issue solved. Just inserted a piece of pond filter pad in my bubble trap.

Now I have to figure out how to keep my tank under 82 degrees without a chiller :| It is in the kitchen, hot when we are cooking.

How about one of those cheap computer fans pointed at the surface of the water?

Thought about it. However the ambient temperature in the room is often around 78 which makes the tank about 80. I'd be fine with that, but when there is cooking it will often go above 82. So I don't think a fan would help?

I may have to invest in a chiller.. I don't want my fishes to boil.
