Yup - I've also read that they go through a brackish/marine larval phase, so practically nobody raises them.
If you're really interested in raising shrimp, find some neocaridina species that has no planktonic stages - they pretty much hatch as miniature adults and feed accordingly (eg: cherry, crystal shrimp).
