So I just noticed that one of my ghost shrimp has little green eggs all around its legs. I have a 20g tall community tank. Is there anyway I have a chance of actually raising the babies?

nope, they are supposedly VERY hard to raise and all my berried females all their eggs get eaten. If you want shrimp I'd do a shrimp only tank and do RCS.

Agreed ... Ghost shrimp have a very difficult diet to duplicate in an aquarium setting. Often newborns end up starving ... though in a well established tank there may be enough for them to munch on, I wouldn't bank on it though. In addition, any newborns will basically become food for any fish in the tank.

RCS on the other hand will munch on whatever the adults do and they breed so often you're bound to double your population in a few weeks to months. I started with 14 at the beginning of Oct and as of today I found I have 10-12 newborns upping my number to about 30. Starting with 10 RCS should give you a good male to female ratio to start a colony.

Thats what i figured but i thought i would ask just in case xD. I would try it if i had a tank to spare, but at the moment just not possible. Not sure what RCS is thou, red cherry shrimp maybe?

Yep.. Red cherry shrimp ... Very easy to breed and I think they look cool.

Oh sweet I had planned on getting some of those for one of my betta tanks. :)
