When my goldfish spawned I decided to save one of the eggs and see if it would hatch. To my surprise it actually did hatch and I decided to name the baby Rana. Because it looks like a little frog. At first Rana was totally fine but then yesterday when I went to check on Rana I noticed that she looked really weird. Her spine wasn't straight anymore and she was swimming funny. I don't understand how this could suddenly happen.

Rana Is 10 days old now. I took a picture everyday of her life.

Rana was fed egg yolk for the first 2 days and then Hikari first bites after

Please give me advice on what to do. Is this something that Rana will grow out of?

I am not sure if this helps any, but the parents are a black moor and a panda moor

i have never hatch goldfish egg before but you mention the egg did not hatch at first and then it hatch. i think because of that i think there were some trauma or something.

Keep in mind that you are dealing with a fish that has an "abnormal" body shape so the fry my just be growing into it's shape. I would grow it out to see what it turns in to.

Hope this helps

Okay I will wait it out and see. I did find two new eggs that have embryos in them. I will have something to compare to when they grow up.

today I bought a 20 gallon long tank for the fry. Any tips on setting up a fry tank?

Add a small sponge filter or airstone. If going the airstone route, add some cycled gravel or sand or decorations. If going with a sponge filter add some cycled media on top of the sponge filter. Once that's done, add some floating plants, fake or live it doesn't matter, add fry, and call it a day.

just a little update, the little deformed fry didn't make it. Its back was starting to straighten itself out but it started swimming in circles. I watched it for a couple of days and the fry just kept swimming very spastic upside down and in circles so I decided to put it to sleep.

Since then my goldfish have had several other babies. I kept 7 of them this time and they are all doing just fine. :D

Sorry to hear that one was infected and not reflective. That's the problem with all the new shapes and variations from the "norm". You don't know what to expect. You just use your experience from each spawning to hopefully have better success with the next one ;) (It might have been interesting to see what it would have turned into if it had survived. )

yah it was really sad but the new little guys are keeping me busy :D
