Your guppies will crossbreed with the platys..

Dunno. Wife told me they crossbreed and I've read they do.

I gave my male+female pair guppies to a friend who only have female Mickey platys and their offsprings were Mickey platys. But I'm unsure if they were pregnant from the LFS.

these are both very wrong, its like crossing a barracuda with a pike. they looks simalare but still wont cross.

If a platy and a swordtail mate will the fry be sterile?

swordtails and platy fry will fertile and can sell easily.

There's really nothing special that you have to do. You actually don't even have to feed them anything special as they can eat crushed up flake food. Parents will usually eat their fry, but it's not a big deal as they can give birth to 20+ fry with little difficulty.

They ain't called the millions fish for nothing!
