I need help! I've read that my little clown pleco needs wood to survive, but does it HAVE TO be drift wood? Could it be say.... Oak wood from nearby??? (Of course I would clean it in boiling water.)

Depending on where you live go to your nearest creek or reservoir and scan the banks.

Thanks but what I mean is does it have to come from a body of water? Must it be drift wood? Could it be from some dead bush or tree that is not near a river or body of water?

I'm not actually sure about that.. I would think probably not since depending on wood it may affect your water quality.

Ok thank you, I'll try to get my hands on driftwood when possible!

Seasoning wood that isn't from water can take months, even a year or more.
