Hi ppl, i'm new in this site. I foung this site when i was looking for information about algae growing on my gravel. And i found answers. Thanks! Today, i was looking at my new otocinclus and i noticed that one of my female platies was growing a belly. Few days ago i saw one of my swordtale following her were they making the babies? I was also wondering if an otocinclus is good for getting rid of diatoms? I've been watching him and he s been eating all kinds, is he going to eat it all?

Thank you guys in advance for your answers and your advices.

Welcome to the site!

I am not sure if platys and swordtails can mate but female live bearers will store sperm so she could easily be pregnant.

Ottos love diatoms.

Generally, if you have a female livebearer and she's not a tiny baby and she's ever been near a male, she's most likely pregnant. And yes, swordtails and platies can interbreed.
