I have a new dwarf gourami who looked to be a lady in the store. I’m not too sure anymore. Can anyone help?

The dorsal fin looks more like a male's than a female to me. Sadly, the new color morphs of the common dwarf gourami make it harder to tell genders. Female regular dwarf gouramis look very different, colorwise, from the males.

I'd keep an eye on the new fish because if that is a male, that belly could be a sign of internal issues.

Young males do tend to look like a female... Maybe that's what's going on.
