Mollie babies!!! :-o

hey everyone i am a first at breeding fish. my mollie is really fat and i've had her for a while. i want to know how long it takes for a livebearer to give birth once you stick it in its own tank. Does it start right away or does the fish not give birth for a long time? does the fish give birth the second it gets away from the other fish or do i have to time it perfectly? thanks

takes time just like humans..... its like what 21 days between sperm and egg to fry..... depending on how long its been prego will dictate how long it takes to release them. look for little eyes on the underside.

Well my mollie looks like she is going to blow up. She still hasn't had her babies and she's fat as ever. is it possible that she can explode?

No she won't explode, since she is black, you can't see the gravid spot but you can watch her from the back. When she starts to look a bit square from the back, she is close. When you say she is away from the other fish, do you mean her own tank or a breeders net?

Heck yes i'm sure. Ummm unless you think that a young male can go without mating for a month and a half. Yeah right.

Look at her from the back, when she seems more square move her to the 1 gal tank. Mollies can hold their babies if they feel stressed.

One warning only to stay on topic, manners have nothing to do with the thread.

Babies Babies. I have mollie fry! Yay. She had somewhere between 35-45 babies. I know its not really a huge thing but its the first time i have ever bred any fish. I'm so excited. righht now the mollie fry are just in the 1g tank. but soon when they get a tiny bit bigger i will get a divider for the 10g so they have more space. Any thing i should know? thanks for advice.
