Sure ya can. You could also crush up flakes to a fine powder as well for food. Just be careful not to over feed them. Have fun, they are cute.

How can u turn flakes into pure powder?

Place some flakes in a ziplock bag and crush them by pinching between your fingers.

It won't go pure powder but will be a fine powder like consistency.
