The males tend to always act the same IME. Watch your female. When she starts to get in the mood, she'll turn yellow and get a black stripe.

I got a pair from HN1 and severum mama last wednesday, the female immediately started getting in the mood. I'm hoping for a spawn any day now.

Are you just keeping them in your community? Or a breeding tank?

It may be that the male is "courting" the female...does she have places in the tank to hide from him?

Congrats! Did you do anything to encourage a spawn or did it just happen on its own?

Well since the last post on here May 1st, I guess it was, these are all the things that have happened in the tank...some obviously don't have an affect, but maybe you can find something that did...my tank came down with a case of ich (killing ten of twelve green neon tetras), got a three hundred W heater instead of the 200w that was in there...heat is more stable now! I have re-arranged things a couple times...took out the big fake log, added another piece of drift wood, a small flower pot, and a pipe elbow, added 6 rummy nose tetras...I think territory was my main issue though...my bristle nose thought he owned the tank...and he would hide where ever he wanted...so I buried the cockatoo flower pot deeper so that there wasn't room for him to get into it, and gave him his own little home on the opposite side of the tank...how bout I add pictures and you can compare them to the one above? Haha

Congrats!

From what I've seen, as long as they are fed well in clean water apistos WILL spawn. The biggest trigger for us is usually just a change. Sometimes tank decor, sometimes to a new tank, even just added plant.

Can't wait for the pics. Good luck with the fry!

Haha sorry for the long winded irrelevant answer...lol! I think I must be tired! here are two pics...the HOB filter intake is a good point of reference (it hangs right down the middle) hope this helps...on the left side is the bristlenose hang out...the right side is the new nursery she claimed the flower pot in front of the java moss

That's good! My kribs usually spawn after water changes. My single female angel likes to lay eggs after I rearrange the plants. The next morning I'll find her fanning a leaf full of eggs.
