I picked up a male and female swordtail today and i was wondering how do i tell if she is preganant?

So basically the same signs as guppies?

Pretty sure it's the same with most live bearers. Pointed fin=male fanned fin=female

I would get another female or two because male livebearers often harass females to death if there is only one female. It is suggested to have one male and at least 2-3 females, more is better.
